E-Commerce provider forecasts 250 employees by 2009
June 11, 2007 (Wilkes-Barre, PA) Solid Cactus, a total e-commerce solutions provider and renowned web design company, has announced its 100th employee hire. Solid Cactus began operations in 2001 with four employees and began the 2006 calendar year with a staff of 32.
Solid Cactus has noted growth in every department but especially in search marketing, call center operations and store programming. The company expects revenues to double over 2006 due to increased product and service offerings. “Our growth is the result of happy employees and happy clients,” said Solid Cactus President Scott Sanfilippo. “We pride ourselves on creating a positive workplace and then filling that workplace with great people. Our growth has been non-stop. We began 2007 with 75 employees and new team members are added almost every week.”
Solid Cactus attributes its low turnover rate to numerous employee perks and a relaxed work environment. Examples include a relaxed dress code, unlimited free snacks and drinks at work, weekly departmental lunches with executive management, quarterly staff lunch meetings and weekly “lunch and learn” training sessions.
Solid Cactus has long been recognized as an employee-friendly environment. Last year the company was chosen as the 21st Best Place to Work in Pennsylvania out of 221,000 companies in the state. The award was established to distinguish businesses in the Commonwealth that attract and retain Pennsylvania's talented workforce and to help other companies do the same. Solid Cactus remains locally owned and self-funded with no venture capital money. Work has begun on a 20,000 square foot office facility in the Wilkes-Barre Township, PA area to house the company beginning in January 2008. The company expects to have 250 employees by end of 2009.
The last year has seen many changes at Solid Cactus. “In 2006 we won two ‘Davey Awards,’” said co-founder Joe Palko. “The ‘Davey’ honors outstanding creative work from the best small firms worldwide. We were very proud when Scott and I were named one of the ‘Top 20 Under 40’ by the Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal for our accomplishments in founding Solid Cactus and Neeps Inc.
