Shana Cavuto
E-Commerce Consultant"Here people come in early, stay late, work from home, whatever it takes. You can tell there's no micro-managing here. People who are micro-managed aren't this motivated."
E-Commerce Consultant Shana Cavuto is a liaison between 30 different clients and the design department. "I convey what the client wants in their web site design," says Shana. "It's very important for me to have a relationship with each client since their needs are always a little different. Also, I need them to trust me that when I recommend a new feature that it really will increase conversions for their industry and their products."
Shana used computers largely for email until college when she took her first graphic design course. "I realized I liked it a lot," she recalls. "I ended up majoring in mass communications in college." After school Shana wanted a job in graphic design, but she also wanted to stay near home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. So she took a job with a local company doing product tech support. "I was doing domain registration. It was very monotonous, basically the same conversation all day long. Also, there was lots of micro-management which didn't appeal to me at all."
Shana saw an ad for Solid Cactus, but it was while working for another company that she had to actually stop at the offices. She liked what she saw. "I stopped by and everyone was dressed down," she recalls. "They were relaxed and friendly and yet everyone was busy. It looked like a cool place to work." She applied and was even more impressed with the people. "I liked their approach and by the end of the interview I knew I wanted to work here."
So far, so good. "I love it here," says Shana. "I know I'm a bit early in saying this, but I'd retire from here. I like the job, the environment, the people and the overall attitude. I feel as if I can ask anyone anything. People are ambitious, happy, passionate and dedicated to the company and our clients. It's the complete opposite of my former job. There is NO micro-managing here."
In the future Shana Cavuto has a goal to be a team leader. "Actually, I love what I'm doing now," she says. "But there are so many opportunities. Sometimes I think about doing design. Our designers are really good here. That's the thing about this company. I know new things will open up. I can't wait for tomorrow!"
