Joseph Barna
E-Commerce Consultant"I've been messing around with computers half my life. I'm still learning every day."
E-Commerce consultant Joe Barna did it both ways with the computer. "Starting in 8th grade I was essentially self-taught," says Joe. "Then I went to college for it and got a degree in programming. So I've been in there."
Joe's job is to take a client's ideas and make them into a web site. "I'm the middleman," says Joe. "I work with the clients on the one side and the design and programming teams on the other side. I make sure the projects come in on time, deal with problems along the way and recommend features that could enhance a particular site. My advantage is that because of all my programming experience, I understand the design, but I also the keystrokes. I think it gives me an advantage.
"E-Commerce Consultants try to make things better for our clients. Lots of old sites need to be freshened or redesigned. It really comes down to keeping up with the new features. Many of the older sites don't have important newer features like Click to Enlarge, Product Reviews, Customer Testimonials and Product Reviews. I like the fact that I can help a company improve its bottom line."
Joe worked in internet tech support for Epix, where he maintained and updated the internal corporate web sites. He also assisted customers with DSL, dial-up and T1 connection issues. He's had years of experience balancing communications with the outside world while dealing with different internal corporate groups.
Joe says coming to Solid Cactus was a very different work experience. "I like the work environment," says Joe. "Management values my opinion and expertise. They don't take us for granted and I get the feeling they really care about us. It's a relaxed atmosphere and I like the people I work with. As a result I like coming to work everyday."
Joe says he plans to stay at Solid Cactus. "There are so many opportunities here and the company continues to grow the right way," he says. "I say if it ain't broke don't fix it. Believe me, Solid Cactus ain't broke!"
