"Innovation is constant in e-commerce. My job is to keep my clients up with the changes."

Joe Domkowski seems perfect for the position of Solid Cactus E-Commerce Consultant. He has degrees in computer science, he's managed people and processes, he's taught computers and he has years of experience helping people over the phone. "I need all of those skills for this job," says Joe. "I need to be able to understand what the client wants and then I have to be able to recommend the latest improvements in features and designs so that my clients will see how the features can work to improve their business."

Joe got into computers as a teen-ager. "Back then it was mostly video games," Joe recalls. "But I liked math and I had a teacher who turned me onto the logic behind it." After that it was multiple college degrees in computer science and a three-year stretch at Big Lots where, as assistant manager, he had 20 people reporting to him.

Then he went to work with Epix/CTE where he did lots of tech support and trouble-shooting. Joe saw the writing on the wall after a couple of years and knew it was time for a change. "They were bought out by another company and I knew. I left about a month before everyone in my department got their notices. I knew when it was time to leave and I knew what I wanted. I wanted a place where I wanted to come to work. Then I found out about Solid Cactus."

A friend worked at the company. Then Joe's wife Katrina got a job there and said she loved it. Joe loves it, too. "I like everything," he says simply. "I like the hours, the friendliness and the flexibility. At my other jobs I never felt a part of something. Here I do. There's a real sense of family here which is unique.

"Best of all, I have all the tools I need to do my job. There's no such thing as old or slow or broken at Solid Cactus. Everything is state of the art and top shelf—and I don't have to fill out a form every time I want a pencil!"

Joe Domkowski and wife Katrina are making Solid Cactus a family affair. "I know this sounds corny, but I see myself retiring here and so does my wife," he says. "I have a passion for my work and a passion for this company."
